If you are a flight attendant, do you only really get free flights for you and family?

I have had this obsession with airports and airplanes since I was a child and am thinking about applying to be a flight attendant to change the daily bore of my work day. I heard that free flights are a great perk, does that mean you can fly anywhere, or just where your company flies, also does your family fly free too, I wouldnt want to travel alone.

It's not just flight attendants, it's all airline employees. They and their immediate families can fly anywhere their airline flys, and there are usually good discounts with other airlines.

Some airlines allow you to have a friend fly for free if you fly with them as a copmpanion.

You also get a number of "buddy passes" a year that allow someone to fly, usually just for the price of the tax of the ticket.

All flying though, is non-rev. Space available. You can book space, but can't get a seat unless there's room. Paying customers get the seats, employees get one only if there's anything left over. So you learn to research the fligh loads on your company's website to decide the best flight to try for.
