My silkie rooster won't stop attacking us!!!?

My Silkie roo will not stop attacking us. He is normally nice but sometimes he just decides to raise his hackles and bites us and digs his claws into us. One of our hens went broody, and we are letting her, could he be attacking cuz of that? Nobody wants to kill him because he used to be so nice and sweet. When he does attack I kick him kinda hard and he won't back down until I've kicked him a few times, then he acts so terrified of me and he acts like he's sorry and I rub his wattles and earlobes, which he enjoys to show that I am still his friend. I want him to mate w/ our girls but I don't want him to do this anymore. We can't eat him mostly because his skin is blue.

Aggressive behavior in a silkie isn't very common - this breed is usually one of the most friendly and docile breeds. However, they are very protective of their hens (and even chicks, as you'll see when you get some to hatch out). My boys will routinely take on "babysitting duties" when everyone is out foraging in the yard. He probably is guarding your broody hen (well, HIS broody hen!) to make sure no one tries to take her eggs or bother her.

As you said he's typically friendly, back off a little and give them some space. Is he only going after you when you're near the nest box? If he does start charging you even if he's not by the hen, grab him by the legs and hold him upside down for a minute. This usually disorients them and calms them down. It also will show him that you are bigger, stronger, and can put him in an awkward position if he's keeps messing with you. You can also put him in a separate pen if he's having a bad day - kinda like a rooster "time out". If he's forced to move away from the hen and/or nest box, he'll have less motivation to try to protect them.

Don't run from him and always stand your ground. I have sometimes kicked a rooster (gently, like a soccer ball) because if you give him a really good kick, you can injure a bantam. Keep in mind also that what he's doing is instinct, and he is trying to do what he's supposed to - give you chicks and guard his hens.

On a side note, silkies are considered a delicacy in some Asian countries, and their naturally-blue skin has nothing to do with edibility. I'd never eat one, because they're so small - and it wouldn't be worth plucking all those feathers, either!
