Have you heard of this reel?

Today, at a fleamarket, I bought an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur reel. On the left side it says F*I*V*E, it is all black, and has the little crest on it also. I believe it was part of a combo,and I can't find any info on it. I already emailed Abu Garcia, I want to know if YOU know anything about this reel. Such as when it came out, if it gets lube, if you have ever had one, let me know everything you can about it. Thanks alot.

sounds like you got a great deal. i have been using Ambassadeur reels for over 30 years. the black color denotes it is a ball bearing model and it sounds like the 5000 series. they are a very tough and reliable reel. the drag system is excellent. i have seen the same type of reel used for sale in vancouver for aroun 260.00. they started making them in the 60's and are still made today.
